Skechers Shape Ups are the toning trainer sensation which not only improve the shape of your body, but have been demonstrated to offer significant health benefits too. Enhanced and improved posture, greater fat burning when walking, help getting rid of ugly cellulite, relief from joint pain and a firmer bottom and more shapely legs. Not a bad tally of benefits by any account. What’s more they are one of the few toning shoe brands which are also available for men. So guys, if you want to get a pair of legs that look like these, it only takes a pair of Sketchers Shape Ups Sneakers!
Do Skechers Shape Ups shoes work? When it comes to wild claims of generating buns of steel and perfectly sculpted legs, Skechers are a little more conservative in their approach than some of the competitor brands of toning shoes. Whilst teenage boys may not be quite so admiring of Skechers Ad campaigns they do offer a more tasteful and respectable approach and they market their shoes with a little more decorum.
It only seems fair that I should do the same and not resort to swathes of bare toned flesh to wow and amaze. Partly because I respect the Shapeup, and partly because I have not been able to find any suitable images of bums and legs which can be attributed to Shapeups toning shoes alone. The image above is for information purposes alone, should you have forgotten what beautifully toned legs look like having lost your own some time ago. Fortunately, now that I have got that gratuitous image out of my system I can concentrate on Shapeups shoes and what they do for the body.
Skechers Shape Ups Trainers feature the Kinetic Wedge, a cunningly crafted piece of EVA foam which stimulates your muscles targeting your wobbly bits. The curved sole helps to promote a more natural way of walking helping you to stand up straighter and strengthening and tightening the muscles with each step you take. You can feel the effects of the shoes virtually instantly, which is why Skechers recommend that you only use them for about 20 minutes to start with, until your body gets used to walking in the shoes and the new way of walking.
Skechers Shape Ups in Action In my search for some action shots of some serious shaping a la Shape Ups, I found this…..
It’s a strange piece of marketing material, as it neither shoes acres of bare toned flesh nor the Shapeups sneakers in action. The model is standing in the shade to hide her newly formed curves and you can’t even see the trainers that well. So why is this I asked my self. The picture only seems to demonstrate that it is possible to stand in a curved soled shoe with your eyes closed whilst performing “I’m a little teapot short and stout”. It is a realm into which no other toning shoe manufacturer has ever dared to venture that’s for sure. It got me thinking that maybe there is a reason why one of their prominent Ads does not shoe the shoes in action, and led me to the discovery of two of the side effects of wearing these shoes.
Healthy and toney they shoes may well be, but when you walk in the shoes they make you grin like an idiot and stop looking where you are going. Don’t believe me? Search on Google, look at the images. Find me a picture of a woman walking in the trainers who is not grinning inanely and is looking straight ahead. Cant be done. I have stumbled upon some serious side effects to wearing the shoes. It seems to rather depends on the individual as to the extent of the Shapeups sideways glance effect, however some cases this appears to be chronic, and downright dangerous.
However all is not lost, as with the latest models of Tone Ups sandals for the summer Skechers appear to have taken steps to correct the problem. The new Skechers Tone Ups range, tone the bum and legs whilst allowing you to look where you are going. You can see that they haven’t quite got it right yet, and they cant get rid of that grin, but significant advances have been made.
I know what you are thinking. This is clearly due to the close proximity of grin and glance nerve endings in the foot which are sandwiched between the butt stimulator and thigh firmer reflexological centres, which are being excessively stimulated the Kinetic Wedge in the shoes. The same occurs with Skechers Tone Ups, so this clearly can’t be a coincidence. That’s exactly what I thought, and my research found me this….
Reflexology has long demonstrated the link between stimulation of the pressure points on the soles of the feet, and the benefits to the body that these can provide. It is an age old technique which the ShapeUp has unwittingly rediscovered. Clinical case studies have demonstrated that the muscles in the abdomen, lower back, bottom, thighs, and calves all receive extra stimulation. It’s evident that posture is corrected and you stand up taller and straighter in Skechers Shape Ups shoes. Shape Ups will help to boost blood circulation, relieve joint pain and joint pressure and increase fat burning and cellulite eradication. My somewhat less than clinical research clearly adds to the body of evidence that these shoes really do have a far greater stimulant effect on the muscles than standard fitness shoes, so I felt compelled to bring this to your attention. A better bum and firmer thighs you may get, but at what cost!
All jokes aside………
Whilst the shoes were a bit clumpy to start with, they are certainly no longer so. There are excellent styles for walking, running and training, as well as everyday wear. The shoes are great for your lower body for reducing the shock waves from walking on hard surfaces, and they can be highly beneficial for the health. Have a look at some of the best styles, and the best prices, below.
If you want to train, women should go for the Shape Ups Kinetix Response, whilst the men should choose the Shape UPS XT range. For running it has to be the Skechers Resistance Runner

Hi Anne,
You are right, and I have added a couple of pictures to this post. It features te two main styles from the original Shape ups range, although there are many to choose from.
However there is a new range of Shape Ups now on the market, whhc are better suited to running and high impact exercise. IF you like to jog, the Shape Ups SRR is the best bet, with the Shape Ups SRT great for the gym. Ill be posting about that one shortly.
As for the Easytone, have a look at the following Reebok Easytone post – there are some pictures online there.
